AKC Rule Change
Allows Owners to Rename Their Dogs
A March 2008
press release further complicates pedigree research for
responsible breeders and it forces breeders to register each
puppy in order to name it, thus mitigating the savings and any
agreement between breeder and buyer. But it insures more
income for AKC and that seems to be reason enough for
just about all changes going on today. This preceded the
April decision of the AKC Board to allow registration of
non-registered dogs with unbroken lineage to be AKC registered.
